[Ham-Mac] Getting started on digital

I've got an iBook that I want to use for digital work with
my FT-817 and TS-440 (an old Kenwood). I know there are
several programs I can use on my Mac, so my questions are
what cabling or other hardware do I need with a white iBook?

I'm sorry to say I'm not interested in cobbling my cables
together by hand, making my own pins and plugs, and weaving
the shield for my coax on my loom. :-> I'm very happy to
buy this stuff.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated for as long as I
can remember.
