[Ham-Mac] spyware

I wouldn't quite say that spyware is mostly hype.

I had a friend who's compute was invaded by a spyware app that was displaying
ads that were, to say the least, disgusting on his machine, all due to a
vulnerability in his web browser. Guess which company made the browser? :-)

The spyware would radio back and download more spyware to his machine until
the machine was so clogged even the spyware wouldn't work. Once I ran Ad-Aware
about five times it finally stopped... and this isn't the only case I've seen
of huge amounts of spyware.

For the Mac you can use MacScan: http://macscan.securemac.com/ but don't be
surprised if you don't find anything. As Chris said, spyware is very rare on
the Mac. Also be warned that it's in beta and is slightly problematic.
