[Ham-Mac] Power Mac G5 and OS 10.3 (Panther)

Hello, I am a PC user and I don't have a Mac at this time. Recently I saw a 
very impressive ad
in a PC magazine about the Power Mac G5 and OS 10.3 (Panther). I know 
nothing at all about
Apple computers so my questions may seem rudimentary:

What software is recommended for Logging and/or Contesting for the Power 
Mac G5 and OS 10.3 (Panther)?
Can logs from Windows software be imported to the recommended programs?

Can I use a satellite ISP?

How about general use software that would replace Windows E-mail, Net 
Surfing, Finances, etc. ?
Any other suggestions for someone starting from nothing will be greatly 
appreciated.
