[Ham-Mac] Xastir, soundcards and OSX

Good Evening my fellow Ham-Mac'ers

Just finished buiding and trying out Xastir 1.3.1 on my powerbook and 
it seems to run.

A question for you all that I can't seem to be able to figure out:

Final Jeopardy today is Soundcard decoders:  From what I understand 
there's not many choices for soundcard packet decoders, with exception 
to Multimode, that allows me to connect the audio output of my radio 
(tuned to 144.39 MHz for example) into my external mic input and have 
Xastir display it.  Am I right so far ?

Not owning a tnc, I'm seeing all these wintel'ers doing just that with 
ui-view and it's kind of making me sore that this, at least from what I 
can see, isn't that easy to do in the OSX realm.
