[Ham-Mac] Virtual PC and contest programs

Hello,

Thanks to those who responded to my inquiry regarding the availability
of a full feature Contesting program for the Mac OS X.

While I reviewed the interesting log program, jlog, I find its contest
portion to be on the weak side.

I would advise those software developers who are working on a real
contest application to look at a true standard within the Mac
community, Marathon, by n0ios. What you see is a program designed
around at least 12 of the major contests, exceedingly user friendly,
and one that works like a terminal program, works with any serial ASCII
device through a TNC to drive any rig. If anyone would like a copy of
Marathon or its documentation I will see if I can arrange delivery.

I have looked at a number of so called "contest" programs that have
been not much more than electronic log books, though well written and
sophisticated. I have a sense that these programs are being written by
highly talented people but not experienced contesters. I am hopeful
that at some time one of the many talented writers will take the time
to look at Marathon, which in its day was a wonderful application. Why
re-invent the wheel when a good starting point already exists?

Again, thanks for all the responses to my inquiry. I hope my comments
about the existing Contest applications for Mac did not offend too many
Mac fans.
