It appears that I found and subscribed to Ham-Mac just in time!!
Thanks to everybody that answered by e-mail. I really appreciate it.
Chris, thanks for the heads-up about MultiMode 4.2.0 with the
waterfall. I downloaded it and it appears to work pretty well,
although I couldn't find many stations. It is a lot better than the
prior Blackcat system. BTW Chris, I am glad that you have installed
Panther. Now we have someone we can check with. I bought my G5
several weeks ago and one of the perks was that I could get Panther
for about $ 20.00. Of course I mailed in the papers and my check and
am awaiting it. Has it caused any problems with conflicts with you
programs?? I am expressly thinking about Norton's and Internet
Cleanup.
Tom mentioned I might want to install X11. I don't have it and it
looks like the new MultiMode may just be the ticket. I have
Rigblaster, but I understand they don't recommend using it with the
Macintosh computers. May have torig up something.
I do have RF in my room, but we are living in a retirement apartment
and so far my XYL has violently resisted my drilling a hole in the
wall to install an antenna on the porch. My old Dell was well
shielded (it is gone now) and the RF didn't bother it, nor does it
bother my G5. However, even at 10-11 watts it drove my G4 nuts -
even when it was plugged in but not turned on!
Thanks to everyone.
