Thanks to everyone here on this list for advice to my
crashing/sleeping/restarting Mac whenever I key my 897 transmitter. I
will be trying the line isolator/rfi choke suggestions also to keep the
stray rf down where the problem starts...
but for anyone else having similar problems - the culprit(s) are the
touch "proximity" switches on the 15" studio display flat panel LCD.
Apple confirms, the RF can trigger them. Which explains why sometimes
the brightness preference pane comes up, and sometimes the power cuts
out or sleeps or restarts - those are the 2 buttons on the flat panel.
Now, turns out these buttons CAN be disabled in software... but only
the 17" and bigger LCD's, not my 15" LCD. I'm using my Titanium laptop
G4 for my ham radio needs now, it doesn't crash on transmit!
Thanks for everyone's advice.
