Just wanted to say thanks to Jason, M3BSK for his help on how to install an=
d
compile the required fink packages (esound, fft and qt3) using Fink
Commander so I could run darwinPSK under Mac X11.
If this stuff sounds strange to those running OS9 or OSX, it was strange to
me too. Tom - K3ORC has ported LinPSK by Volker, DL1KSV, to run under Mac
X11. LinPsk is a Psk31 program for Linux. The PSK31 part is originally base=
d
on WinPsk 1.0 by Moe=A0Wheatley,=A0AE4JY. Talk about confusing.
Thanks to the help and HOURS of compiling the unix fink packages I managed
to get darwinpsk running on my G4-450 (AGP) and it is copying PSK31 and RTT=
Y
signals from the TS-570D(G). Drop me a note if you would like to see a
screenshot. The waterfall display is really cool and very easy to pick out
the signal for PSK31 or RTTY. Once you get X11 and Fink working, darwinpsk
is a snap to run. =20
I use a Radio Shack Y-Connector to the external speaker connector on the
TS-570D(G) and ran a jumpter to the sound input on the back of the G4. If
you have a Mirror Door G4, you will have to use something like iMac on th=
e
USB port as new G4's do not have a real sound input jack on the back. I
lucked out with the older G4. I have not figured out how to interface the
transmitter....that is the next step but I feel like I am making progress.
I don't want to mess with the ACC2 plug on the rear of the TS-570 because i=
t
is used to feed my PK-232 for real RTTY work. I may use the Microphone
connector. Any suggestions?
Tom's darwinpsk can be downloaded from Volker's web page at
http://linpsk.sourceforge.net/
TNX again to all that helped me get started. About the time I get this
darwinpsk running someone will come up with an OSX version and I can then
trash all of the unix stuff.
Tell me I had fun messing with this stuff.
