[Ham-Mac] Using iChat in amateur radio

Dear Bruce,

You are absolutely correct: I definetly missed the boat. In the past,
I have always ignored this chat opportunities in the internet. This has
changed when iChat became available and I am not surprised that other
hams are already using AIM/iChat for long. However, I couldn't find
screen names from radio amateurs and therefore I decided to place a
note on my webpage. Perhaps we may share those screen names by
publishing a, say, screen name directory for radio amateurs (just an
idea).

This new chatroom often idles but if you wait a few minutes, you may
indeed find 'MacHeads' loging in. We already had very nice 'QSO rounds'
around the world. On the other hand, I must admit I still have this
mixed feeling when promoting an internet chat service in the community
of radio amateurs. Actually it is ... weird, isn't it? However, I
really enjoy those chats in particular when discussing Mac applications
in ham radio. There are many other brilliant internet-based services
too (just want to mention one, i.e. EchoLink which is indeed pretty
cool), i.e Instant Messaging is just another tool in my view.

I hope -and I may certainly speak in the name of the all the others-
you will improve very soon enjoying your iMac at home again. Make sure,
the nurses and doctors don't love this iMac too much ...

Best regards + vy 73s,
Volker (DF5AI)
