Good evening gentlemen,

I have tried to post my response, and the results of your advice, twice
today, but the ham-mac reflector is either down, or perhaps something
else has gone wrong with the system, however, here are the contents of
my note to the reflector....again, grateful thanks, sincerely, John.
G3JVC.

Good morning, I would like to thank everyone for the response to
myrequest for assistance. Zap the Pram.....oh, thats easy, thought I !!!
use Tech Tool.

I called up Tech Tool, and asked for the Pram to be zapped .....sorry
it said, I can't, until you turn off background printing ......checked
the Chooser, but the background printing is off .....rebooted, tried
Tech Tool again.....same response.....lots of muttering...

So, now, try the cmd-opt-p-r suggestion. Computer off, have all the
keys pressed, but, press the "on" key, but the computer will not switch
on........more, and much louder muttering.......try again, this time
switch the computer on first, then, as the chime dies, press the
cmd-opt-p-r keys.....more success this time, the computer tries to load
up the software, and then stops, tries again, and stops etc......I let
it continue for four events, and then released the keys......the
computer continues to load up, and finally, when the desk top appears,
success, that little flashing clock has disappeared, and now, life can
return to normal.......the muttering has subsided, and all is now
peaceful !!!

Just for the record, the computer involved is a PowerBook 250 Duo, now
on its second keyboard, but otherwise, perfect for a dedicated logging
application, which uses Clarisworks 5 spreadsheet, and data
base.........thanks again for all the advice,Sincerely, John.G3JVC.
