[Ham-Mac] Mac multihome

I have been under the impression that MacOS could easily be made to
multihome on a network (or the "internet"), i.e. represent itself as more
than one machine name and IP address.

I have a G4 dual running Panther and need to have it respond for a second
machine for a while while I reconfigure that second machine and change its
operating system. However, I can't find any info in the help files on how
to set Panther up with two different machine names and IP addresses running
concurrently.

Is this possible? If so, can anyone help me with some "how to" information?
