Too bad it's a source dist, I imagine that will scare away most of
the people that don't know how to use the terminal or don't have
previous unix experience. Looks like a good program, but it took me a
moment to figure out why it wasn't seeing any maps(read the readmes!
doh). There is also X-APRS for Linux, almost identical to
MacAPRS/WinAPRS, although it will almost certainly need some work
before being compiled for MacOS X.
I wonder how long it will be until we see some USB TNC's... It would
be wonderful to see one with a small hub built in, then you could
plug a USB GPS into the TNC and everything could talk to everything.
But for now it's serial only, and I'm wondering how well the serial
TNC's work with MacOS X and say a Keyspan serial adapter. I must say
I'm glad to see serial port options in Xastir and support for other
than 8N1 setups, since my MFJ TNC uses 7E1, which has been a problem
in getting it working on my Windows laptop.
