[Ham-Mac] Help! - Start-up problem with G4

Hi Dave,
Had a slightly similar problem with my G4 iMac and got on to the Mac
help line -- said it was a corruption of the sys files.
Advised as follows:
First check if it will boot up with Shift Key held down.
Switch off, then:
Switch on holding down mouse - CD ROM drawer opens
Insert OS9 install disk - push drawer in - allow to boot up.
Click on HD icon to check if contents are there.
Click on OS9 install icon to open
Check for Utilities
Look for 'Disk First Aid' and run - note results and act as suggested.
System should then reboot OK.
Maybe you have tried this but it is a useful bit of info for future
reference.
