I've got Virtual PC working with a keyspan serial device (it's the twin 
serial port device, I think it's called USA28X or something similar).
I also had problems but there is a note on connectix' server about 
having to use the "Lego Mindstorm" Applescript prior to using the 
serial port.
I can't tell you exactly what made it work, but I've played around 
running the script, etc. and suddenly I could connect to my PBX (which 
is what I intended to do ;-)

(that's on Jaguar 10.2.2, FWIW)
