Well, the OS is not really that important, I use Linux mainly
because it allows free access to the development tools for everybody!
Well, Linrad is mainly written in C. It contains some Intel
assembly for faster routines, but they can be left out without any
problem - if the computer is a little faster than my 600MHz PentiumIII.
I am not a programmer so Linrad is not very well structured but
the basic algorithms are not that difficult and I am sure it will
be possible to make truly portable sub-units that can be brought into
different environments. SDR's (software defined radios) is just
beginning and I expect a lot of interesting development in
coming years. It will surely be interesting to follow development.
