Too bad the variety of "Windows" operating systems are not
listed. Some people think that Windows 3.1 is an operating
system...It is not, it is just an extension that runs with the DOS
x.x operating system. Would DOS with the Windows 3.1 extension be
one of the "other" operating systems? Of the 1.58 who are running
Linux, I wonder how many are on Apple 680x0 or PowerPC xxx machines.
Other operating systems? Would that include an Apple running
the Be operating system?
Where would AU/X be? AU/X is an Apple version of IBM's AIX
(Unix variation) operating system.
I am now using Macintosh 8.6 but I wish I could go back to
Macintosh 7.5.5. Apple is not nice to those who want to customize
the look of the interface. With Mac 7.5 I could use Aurora to make
the menu bar black with grey lettering and the menus could be
customized the same way. With Mac 8.x the menu bar has little white
diagonal lines in the upper right and upper left and the menu bar
becomes more than twice as tall at times, and the folders do not have
the nice neat icons that they had in Mac 7.x and before. I hope that
software writers will not abandon Macintosh 7.x too soon because I
intend to use it when I can on a partition on my second internal hard
drive or on one of my external hard drives. Could Linux gain market
share (installed users not new sales) because of Apple's pig headed
ways?
