I mentioned that my survey wasn't particularly scientific. Since I
sent out my first message, I received 14 hits on my Website. Mac
users accounted for nine while Windows had only five, raising my Mac
hits by almost a full percentage point. FWIW, of those 14, MSIE5 was
11; MSIE4 was one; poor old Netscape 4 was used by only two (anyone
ever try Opera?). Thanks to all for leaving your cookies turned on!

I had never heard the statistic that 16% or so of all computer users
were Macs; I belong to several Mac user groups/eLists and subscribe
to The Mac Observer, but had never read this figure although I have
long suspected it. It certainly seems logical for the reasons cited
by James : we Mac-heads squeeze out a lot more life out of our "old"
machine because we can more easily (and more cheaply) upgrade them. I
have a IIvx on standby, but my "good" machine is a PM 7300, upgraded
to a G3/400 with 368MB (cheap) RAM. I'm not ready for a new G4/1GHZ
yet.

MacIntosh Snob (PM 7300, upgraded to G3/400MHz, 368RAM, OS 8.6).

Linux for stability, Macintosh for productivity, Windows for solitaire. - ML

57,000 viruses for Windows; 60 for Macs (McAfee). Guess who doesn't
worry about viruses?
