This USB chip UDA1335 h is also used in the Hartman and Kardon speaker 
set
Phillips has an audio codec configurator for windows witch can update the
firmware in the usb audio chip trough it's i2c bus
so the divice can be reprogrammed to do what you wand
on should backup original config first to be able to set it back
The other way is to do the hacking on the in the mac but much more 
difficult
