[Ham-Mac] Are you running OSX on your Mac ?

The only Mac getting any real usage right now is my iMac SE 600
(flower power), which is running 10.1. I love X, but unless rig
interfaces and home-brewed projects start using USB, I don't see much
happening. I am trying to setup an old 200-something MHz Pentium with
Win98 for some ham stuff, since it has serial ports(although I've
never had much luck getting PC software to run well, and my monitor
seems to be stuck at 640x480. Stupid Windoze machines...). And as
soon as I get some more batteries and cables, I have a PowerBook 160,
I think running System 7.5 right now but going to 7.1, that I will
probably use for portable ops. The PB160 doesn't do much, but it has
sound I/O and two serial ports. So what we really need for new Macs,
and new computers in general(PC's are slowly dropping "legacy"
support also), are USB-interfaced rigs, TNC's and everything else. If
a KPC-3 can run off a 9v battery, why couldn't it run from USB or
FireWire bus power? USB developer kits are a bit expensive for low
end and home built stuff, they could easily and cheaply be installed
in commercial rigs if the major brands decided to do it.
