MacOS X support more or less updated older Mac and you should make sure
you have the necessary utility to activate the upgrade card cache memory.
www.xlr8yourmac.com has a lot of info about all that.

I don't know of any PCI board transceiver, there is an ISA board
receiver (www.winradio.com) and RS-232 controlled receiver from
Icom (for which I give away Macpcr(X), winradio (which has it's own
control progam for MacOS), tentec (both HF receiver and transceiver -
no Mac support AFAIK) and some full feature transceiver have serial
control with various software.
