[Ham-Linux] Anyone good with routers & switches?

If I connect a 5-port switch to a port on the wired/wireless
router shouldn't devices plugged into the switch be seen?

Do I need to change some settings on the router?

I have forgotten more about networking than I ever knew as
a systems manager!
