Maybe so, and maybe no. 

I think more likely, since Linux is such a minor player, why bother? What 
percentage of the OS market does Linux own, something like 0.3%? (yeah, I 
knoww... it's growing. But Linux is not even close to becoming a threat)

And, as others have pointed out, every decision has a downside. Writing 
Linux drivers is not going to increase Acers sales enough to warrant the 
expenditure, and it would threaten their relationship with Microsoft, who is 
their REAL bread and butter.

So, you won't buy another Acer. Niether will I. And we are not even a blip on 
Acers sales radar.
