[Ham-Linux] Packet with Kubuntu

After having tried several distributions ( Red Hat, Mepis, SuSe) I have
selected Kubuntu as my operating system of choice. I have it installed on my
laptop and the main computer in the radio room.

I have a DOS based program written by K8LG that lets me run AX25 to a "dumb"
modem. With it I can connect to the local packet network and bbs systems.
Is there a terminal driver for Linux that will let me do this? I know some
versions have AX25 built into the kernel but I'm not sure Ubuntu or Kubuntu
have that feature.

So if anyone out there knows of a program that will emulate a TNC I would like
to hear about it. Thanks.
