Since I could not find a way to post a comment to you blog page, I'll say
it here. A couple of years back my brother, who is not the computer
geek I've been, needed a computer. So I set one up with Debian and
everything has worked out rather well. There were some rocky spots as
Firefox and some helper apps matured, but everything seems to be
working well as I've had to do minimal maintenance to the box.

I like your "my way or Dell way" approach. When people want a
relative or "friend" to clean up their infected machine, it's often
because they've figured out what the shops charge or what phone support
costs after 90 days or some such time frame. Thus they are looking for
free support and I gave that up years ago. When asked I tell people
that it will be $50 per hour with a four hour minimum, but if they wish
to try Linux, my assistance will be free. So far I've had no takers,
not even any of the local hams who, sadly, should at least be tech
courious.

Why hasn't Linux taken over as the OS of choice for hams?
