I don't know specific information about your setup-are you running Redhat
7.2? Anyway, your ISP should be able to give you the basic information you
need. In a console, as root, type "setup" and select "network
configuration". If your cable modem provides DHCP, just select "Use dynamic
IP configuration". Your IP address, netmask, gateway, and nameserver will be
given to you via DHCP. If not, you need those four things from your ISP
(they are not Linux specific!) If you are running a windows machine through
the cable modem successfully, you can go under Control Panel -> Networking ->
TCP/IP and see what the settings are. If it says something like "Use
automatic configuration" it means the modem is providing DHCP, and if not,
the information you need for Redhat setup can be located by tabbing around
and writing down the information to manually enter it when you do setup in
Linux. I assume that your network card has been recognized by Linux-you can
check by typing "dmesg | less" at a console and looking for messages about
your network card. Hope that this helps...
