[Ham-Computers] Supposed Pending Change to Email Handling At AOL.COM & CS.COM

"You may have received (or heard about) this notification from Yahoo!.
Much like many other e-mail providers, they've switched to a more secure
authorization and handling system that requires an updated e-mail client."

7 email accounts, ~135 groups, a dozen which I run, and been on Yahoo
Groups since it was created.  I've seen, heard, nothing, and the details
parallel numerous scams going back several years.  Additionally, Yahoo
will be permanently shutting down groups in a  few weeks, unlikely they
suddenly require special apps, or every other providers on the planet to
immediately re-write new, compliant email clients for access.

The most likely scenario is, since Yahell is shutting down, and one of
the more hackable service providers will disappear, some dirtbag just
wants people to seek out an app that will give people direct access to
their information, and bypass Yahoo.

Interestingly, the message you received has a valid, yet generically
useless link about Yahoo access in general, AND, the OAuth reference,
although similar to what was mentioned earlier, is not the same as Oath
referenced in several scams, which is associated with AOL.

I highly suggest, and, if I could, insist, that everyone associated with
Yahoo Groups at this time, forget about it, do nothing, it will
evaporate, and start search groups.io for forum replacements.  Do
nothing, change nothing, download nothing, as there are currently more,
and more scams going around about something that will soon be disabled
with the flip of a switch.  As it is perceived that people will be more
desperate, the scams will increase.  Myself, having been with Yahoo
Groups for 20 years, have seen the evolution of its failure since day
one, and despite losing more, and more, and shortly, everything, can't
even bother to care, going back to "Neo", when functionality ceased.
It's dead, Jim...

For the past couple of years, Yahoo groups have mostly migrated here:

https://groups.io/

Some groups have moved elsewhere, other than to groups.io, ask around
before whatever contacts one has on the festering remains of Yahoo
Groups disappears.

Here's some good info:

Ironic that groups is shutting down, since yahoo "made it better", which
is what killed it.  One would think they would just click the "UNF--K"
button, and re-acquire the global market, but there is no forethought in
modern marketing strategies...
