From WA5CAB at cs.com Wed Sep 6 17:45:53 2017 From: WA5CAB at cs.com (WA5CAB at cs.com) Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2017 17:45:53 -0400 Subject: [Ham-Computers] Imaging (for Windows) Message-ID: <1e1c5c.b67d433.46e1c690@cs.com> Imaging, AKA Wang Imaging, Kodak Imaging, Imaging for Windows (not to be confused with the product of the same name from Microsoft) shipped with Windows NT and Windows 2000 and maybe 98 as the default TIF viewer and editor. XP and later shipped with something from Microsoft that doesn't work. As best I can recall, around the time that Microsoft switched to their own product, Kodak sold it to a European company named EI Stream. I think that I bought the Version 2.8 that I currently use from them. They either sold it or changed their name to Global 360 which was apparently in the UK. One of them, probably the latter, came out with Version 4.0, which AFAIK may have been the final revision. Global 360 still has a functioning web site which let me place an order for two copies which turned out to be handled through Digital River. That was on 21 August. But about a day later, I received an email notice that the CD (or DVD) was out of stock, and nothing since. An email that I sent to Global 360 has not been answered. Does anyone have any knowledge as to what might have happened to Global 360? Does anyone have or know of anyone who has a copy of V4.0? I did some searches on eBay for Imaging 4.0, Imaging for Windows 4.0 and for Global 360 but got no useful hits. And it's available for GBP 144 (about $200 USD?). There's also a Wikipedia article (last updated 3/2015) at... ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imaging_for_Windows though there's not much info there that you didn't already know. I'm not sure what you're reasoning is for looking up this relic (unless you're just use to the interface and don't want to switch), but if you're looking for a graphics viewer program, there's probably none better than IrfanView... ?? http://www.irfanview.com/ It opens just about any graphics format ever created (and can show the hex binary view if it doesn't) plus it has lite editing abilities.? I've been recommending this app for years and everyone I know loves it.? It will also play back many video formats too, including .FLV (Flash) videos.? Best of all, it's free. Hope you find this info useful.? Hi to everyone on the list - it's been a while since I checked-in.? Haven't seen or heard anything from Duane in a while - hope he's OK.? I left him a message on his phone last year, but never heard back.? But I know he was going through medical issues, so not hearing back wasn't too unexpected.? Duane, if you're still around, hope you're OK. 73 all, ? - Aaron Hsu, NN6O On Wednesday, September 6, 2017 2:46 PM, Robert Downs via Ham-Computers wrote: Imaging, AKA Wang Imaging, Kodak Imaging, Imaging for Windows (not to be confused with the product of the same name from Microsoft) shipped with Windows NT and Windows 2000 and maybe 98 as the default TIF viewer and editor.?
