Has anyone had experience with Linux or is using it.I want to use a version which has the desktop type feature and is user friendly to former Windows users and Ham Radio Any comments or advise is welcome. I use and love (since 1997) Slackware, stay away from it, it is not one of the "windows wannabees." It is the most like the original UNIX as one can get. If you like being required to reboot with no real reason try: Ubuntu, Kbuntu or one of their other sisters. I use Xubuntu and have for years and years. You can move the desktop around and have it look like most other OSes, like Win. It's stable, unlike Win. It does not spy on you, like Win, You can run it in Live mode, to see how it detects your hardware and to check out how it works. You can also run it as a virtual machine with VirtualBox or Vmware. Or just install.
