[Ham-Computers] Command Prompt External Drive Backup

Hi All,

The blind dude has a problem. I need to run an external HD on my Compaq
Prosario 450 MHZ DOS/Win 98A machine for the purpose of backing up files on
the C:\ HD.

It appears that Windows 98A was the first introduction of USB ports. From
what I am told, they did not work very well! The second release of USB ports
worked better, but still left a lot to be desired.

Now there is supposed to be a small card that plugs into the 450 MHZ Compaq
machine that allows the user to plug an external drive into it.

Everything that I seem to have my tech guy try, either fails beautifully or
does not work!

Why do I want to do this?

I hate Windows word processing programs! I much prefer Professional Write
version 2.22 - the last version released of Professional Write for DOS.
Unfortunately the only way to save such text files is the Professional Write
file extensions! Now I can save everything as an .ASC file, but I lost
centering and formating if I do that. Being a published Writer that creates
problems for me!

Any suggestions? Thanks.
