Subject: [Ham-Computers] Help With Spell Check

Hi All,

The blind Wizard here needs some sighted assistance!

I am running under XP Home Edition. I need to get some kind of spell check
working for Word Pad and Outlook Express. For some reason spell checking
appears to be either not available or not operating.

How can I make it work? Remember, I am totally blind, so please write any
instructions clearly so I can comprehend them. Thanks!

I tried to install The American Heritage Dictionary, a DOS program. It
worked great in Windows 98a and 98 Second Edition, in the DOS mode, of
course.
It tries to work in XP HE using the command prompt. But I also get a screen
full of "masculine ordinals", whatever in the Cosmos they are! It looks up a
word alright, as long as I spell it correctly. No help for a misspelled
word, but great for definitions and some historical data!

It is supposed to list a vertical column of possible correct words so that I
can down arrow to the one I want, press 'enter' and get the data. It is
putting some of this column on the screen, but it is mixed up so that using
it is nearly impossible.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance -
