[Ham-Computers] Configuring a distant router connection for home QTH

I've got a dumb question for the group here because I just don't know. If I run a CAT 5/6E cable from one of the ports on my home wireless router outto an out building on my property, can I just put another Linksys wireless router on the end of it and expect to see the signal or am I missing something here?
I'm asking because I don't have a spare router to try this on and seems likeasking the question is a good move prior to buying another router.  My concernis that the existing router will have a problem with another router on the circuit.
