If you're talking about Windows, it will allow another computer to log 
in via Remote Desktop.  Setting it up depends on which version of 
Windows you're using.

There is also something called VNC, which will let you `watch' and 
control things in real-time (RDP takes over, VNC doesn't have to). 
There are a few variants, most free.  One computer is the server and one 
the client/viewer.

On linux, there's VNC, NX, and my favorite, X11VNC.  They're 
cross-platform because they make use of standards.


Tell me exactly what you're hoping to accomplish.
