[Ham-Computers] Can I Connect an IDE Drive and CD Drive to the Same Cable?

Jim, you have a Primary and Secondary on your motherboard.
Each can have 2 drives connected to them.
I would jumper the drives according to how you want them to show up.
I don't trust the cable select (CS) position, it is suppose to sense 
where the drive is connected on the ribbon cable.
If it is on the end of the cable it is master and if it is connected to 
the other it is slave.
Your board should also have 2 SATA connectors and as far as I know you 
can only connect 1 drive per connector.

I would set the jumpers on your drives to master or slave and connect 
them up.
Go into the BIOS and set drives to Auto
