[Ham-Computers] A Good Color Printer

Hi Duane:
The current issue of the CNET Community Newsletter (also in the
sample provided for those who may be interested in subscribing, see
http://nl.com.com/view_online_newsletter.jsp?list_id=e497&tag=rb_content;contentMain
) covers printers.
the actual subject is selecting an inkjet printer that doesn't
require frequent ink cartridge replacements. The editor selects an
issue, posts it, and other members send replies.
Two of the suggestions are:
Get good inkjet paper instead of cheapo paper, since the printer
scans the copy and uses more ink until a suitable print is
available. Ink soaks in the cheapo paper, so more ink is required.
Cartridges cost are about the same for any cartridge, but cheap
printers have smaller cartridges which require more frequent
replacement. Check cartridge size.
I can't help much with the actual printer selection. I have both
types, and my old LaserJet4 failed recently. I read Consumers
Reports, and followed their suggestions. I seldom use my inkjet, and
it is still ok.
