[Ham-Computers] Windows 7 problem (?)

Personally, from my experience and things I heard before windows 7 came
out...
XP is stable, it works, it's compatable.
Windows 7 was not realistically expected to work or place nice with much of
anyhting. Comments from beta testers months ahead of time warned people
from ever going near it.
My wife works as a programmer with the State. Windows 7 is banned from all
developement and production areas. One or two computers with Vista and 7
are kept on hand for comparison, they may NOT be connected to anything, but
must be stand-alone units to prevent collapse or corruption of the entire
State network and databases.
When the State gets tech support calls, most of the issues are Windows Vista
or 7 related. After wasting several months and a few million dollars, the
State does not have the time, money or resources to bother with the problem,
so the response, "I'm sorry, your operating system is not compatable, we
suggest Windows XP home or professional editions".
I cannot speculate specifically what causes the problems you are having, but
the above is what I've seen, heard and know.

I bought a new Win 7 64 bit machine and for the last week I have been trying
to set up a email account.
