Subject: [Ham-Computers] Windows 7
Please excuse the rant but after two days of working on this piece of crap,
I have to vent.
My wife bought a Netbook computer that has Windows 7 pre-installed.
She asked me to set it up for her.
There are so many things that are different from WIN XP ~ Like, no more
Outlook Express which we have both used for years.
Scott: Not exactly true. You can use Windows Mail which is in the 'Windows
Live package for Windows 7. You can still use your regular email account.
With Win 7, you HAVE to use Hot Mail and it looks like most of the XP
programs will not work on Win 7. However, I was able to get the email set up
and anything that is sent to her old email account will go to the Hot Mail
inbox. .. .
Scott: Again not true. Did you happen to use the compatibility mode for
Windows 7?
The computer itself, a Asus Eee PC is a good little machine and with the
Asus Wl-330gE wireless adapter, I was able to hook the Netbook up to the
existing LAN so she can use the Netbook anywhere in the house without wires.
. . .
Would like to hear from any one who has had experience with Win 7.
Scott: Tell you what why don't you contact me at the email address
scottbb1973 at gmail.com and I'll see if I can help you work through your
issues. I use Windows 7 daily and I like it the best out of all the
versions of Windows I have had a chance to use. I use a netbook here and
actually use Windows Xp on it.
