Robert,
As an IT person, I concur about AVG antivirus. Besides the free
version, which is excellent but has no support (not that I ever needed
support for it...) and some malware options are only available in the
purchased version. It also has a "corporate" type edition, where it
can be distributed on a network to all the computers on the managed
network, and centrally administer the AV on the client computers. I
installed a few of these and besides working great, it's easy to
manage and never had a problem. Also, it takes much less resources
from the PC than the other "major" brand AV/anti-malware applications.
