Hello All,
Please forgive the notification in the footer of this post about my anti
virus software being previously owned by a DOS Cave Dweller, or being out of
date or? It is! But my efforts to upgrade seem to be foiled by one "do this
first" after another! I think the post is virus free, so if not, I hope your
anti virus software is working right! I need to, in fact want to, upgrade!
When I typed in the new AVG version 8.5 after the "run" command, I was
notified that I had Roxio Easy CD Creator (or something like that) on my
system, which is true, and that due to a bug in it I first had to upgrade
Roxio before installing the new AVG.
Well friends and chip dwelling compatriots, I never use the Roxio program,
so do I really need to download a fix? Whether it works or not, matters not,
as I use Nero Ultra.
Can I ignore this download fix for Roxio?
I skipped this and moved on.
Next I was told I had to uninstall AVG version 7.5 before I could install
AVG version 8.5 Then it said something about it could uninstall the older
version for me, and would then install the new version, but then I had to do
... I only get "one" chance to hear many instructions, as too often the text
on the CRT is NOT able to be converted into text that the screen reading
software can speak. It may be visible to a sighted person, but JFW *the
screen reading software* sees nothing it can speak. Hence, if I miss what is
said the first time, tough luck!
Please do "NOT" suggest that I try this anti virus program or another one,
no offense intended here. I must use what programs work with JFW. So unless
the anti virus software comes bearing the reccommendation of our friend
NN6O, Aaron Hsu, I avoid using it. He has a way of testing my JFW software
on a virtual system somehow, so he actually emulates what I must do.
If any of you have upgraded from AVG version 7.5 to version 8.5 please
contact me. If you can tell me about what to be sure is checked, as well as
not checked, I would appreciate it.
Should I uninstall AVG 7.5 myself? If so, how?
If I let the installation program for AVG 8.5 remove the prior version, then
install the new 8.5 version, what do I have to do after that? Is there
something else I need to install?
Thank you for your assistance.
