[Ham-Computers] clock losing time

<  computer  clock losing about 5 minutes an hour
happened once before and I replaced the battery (I THINK)  on the
motherboard someone tell me if my brain is engaged to the correct
solution thanks  >

   If it is loosing time while turned off and not loosing time while it is turned on you 
are correct.

   My uncles' confuser is early by about 4 days and I am at a loss to figure that one out.
