Yes, the "full" version of Outlook is better overall than Outlook Express (OE), but Outlook was designed primarily for use in a business environment with an Exchange server.  Both are built on the same platform, but OE was designed as a POP mail client and has some features that Outlook doesn't.  And, OE is free whereas the full version of Outlook requires you to acquire a license (either as an individual CAL or via Microsoft Office).

But... Office 2007 spell checker/thesaurus works fine with Outlook Office 2007. There's still folk' using Outlook Express??? I switched from buggy Outlook Express to Outlook years ago and it has proved to be a wise decision.
