[Ham-Computers] Do LCD monitor displays get "dingy" or faded looking?

Hi,
Last night I put the lcd display from my wife's old computer on this one as
a secondary display. That one (hers) is more or less a "generic" no name
17" display that came with this computer for the bargain price (then) of
$200.00 somewhat over two years ago. It has minimal hours on it as all she
does is check her email and turn the computer off.
THIS monitor is a "High Dollar" (relatively speaking) Viewsonic 17" that is
somewhat over three years old and has many thousands of hours on it, I
average over 12 hrs/day use.
When I got the "generic" monitor I compared it against this one. This one
(Viewsonic) was a little brighter (sRGB setting), definitely had better
resolution and just looked better. The whites were "whiter", and the color
just seemed better than the "generic".
Now, I see that the generic one is brighter and colors deeper, by comparison
this one looks dingy, like an old Tee shirt that hasn't been washed in a
good detergent 8^( Both monitors are running on the same video card, with
the same resolution etc.
So, I guess the question is, "do LCD monitors get tired"? Yes, I realize
that focus etc won't change as, unlike crts, there is not beam to focus.
