[Ham-Computers] Installing sp2 and sp3 using the Microsoft InstallCD's

Thanks, Jonathan, but I just found more info while writing some notes
to help a friend reformat and reinstall XP.
I put the sp3 CD in the drive, and there was a "what to know"
link. Running it gave varied results depending upon the computer
used, but in one case it brought up:

which says

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is a free update for Windows XP. SP3
includes all previously released Windows XP updates, including
security updates, hotfixes, and select out-of-band releases. To
install SP3, either Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a) or Windows XP
Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed.
