[Ham-Computers] Forums - What's a Tag and a Poll?

Hi,
OK, as I use both of these items on my OTR blog, I'll give it a shot.
1. Tags: That is a "index word" you can add to the post to enable
quick searching. Examples. . . I post a lot of old time radio shows in
MP3 format. All posts are "tagged" by genre etc. Sherlock Holmes
stories will get a Detective tag, Horror/suspense ones a Horror/suspense
tag, Science Fiction a "Sci-Fi" tag, something from the BBC a "BBC tag
and so forth. Sometimes a single show will get multiple tags. Then,
somebody visiting my site can click on the tag of choice in the "tags
area" and all show playlists with that tag will be brought up to select
from. Makes it easy to locate a certain "genre".
2. Polls: You've probably seen these in various forums or mail lists.
I occasionally use them to determine what visitors to my site would
like to see posted, their "favorite" show, etc. Typically, when you
choose to post a poll, you'll ask a question, then give several choices,
like this.
What is your Favorite Detective program?
A. Candy Matson.
B. Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar.
C. Sam Spade.
D. Bulldog Drummond.
E. Other (comment in comments area below).
After the poll has run for awhile you can go back and look at it (as can
others) and see the responses in graphical form. Typically tahe poll
does NOT disclose who posted what answer unless they post in the
comments area.
