[Ham-Computers] Recognizing SATA drives from failed RAID array

Mike,

That might work but if the Asus RAID system is like the Intel one on the
system board here, I think you may have made a fatal mistake when you deleted
the RAID array. The OS (whatever you are using) won't recognise the RAID
drive.

You didn't say what the error message you got from the RAID controller was
but unless it indicated that both drives had failed, I suspect you should
have tried to run with the remaining good drive, or checked in BIOS to see
what your repair or recovery options were. The only value of a RAID 1 array is
that you can survive a one drive failure without losing everything. It's
happened here once, on the D-drive. I determined which drive had failed
(which happened after only a few days of operation), replaced it, and let the
controller rebuild the array.

All I could suggest is to turn the RAID controller back on with both drives
where they were and see whether it will come back up without reformatting
the good drive.
