Clicking and dragging while holding the Ctrl (Control) key down will copy
(move but leave original). You will see a small "+" before you let go,
indicating 'copy'. This works in XP and Vista.

Clicking and dragging moves an item(s), they will not remain in their
original
location. Right clicking, dragging, then releasing at the ultimate location
will bring up a small menu with the option to move or copy. Just checked
the "cut" option in Windows Explorer, found it in everything after 3.11. In
3.11 and back you could copy OR move.
