Jim,

If your terminology is literally correct, then the results will be as Kurt 
says.  "Cut" means to remove.  However, "Cut" is not one of the options in 
Windows Explorer under any Microsoft OS back to the beginning of Windows.  
However, Move is.  Move does a cut and paste.  Or actually a paste and cut.  
Maybe you did a Move.
