It might be a "standard" connector/cable, but they're not standardized across computer manufacturers. When it comes to a laptop, it's best to stick with the OEM part or a substitute that's made for that laptop.
There are several vendors out there that specialize in laptop parts. Keyboards and "pointing" devices are items that commonly break and are easily found. "laptopparts.com" is an example (never used them, but have searched their database at times). eb*y is another common source for parts.
What brand/model laptop is it?

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Laptop question
Does anybody on the list here know if the small cable connector that is used
for the mouse pad on a laptop is universal or do different models have
different sizes of that ribbon cable.
I have a laptop with a broken connector and want to try and fix it.
Sort of difficult to use a laptop with a USB mouse!
Thanks,
Brian
