Herb: I recently bought a notebook battery and checked on battery
life. The following link has interesting info:
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm

Notice that leaving the battery in the laptop is the worst way to
prolong battery life. I leave my old battery, which has about a 10
minute life, in the laptop and keep my new battery in a cool place,
partially charged.
