Good day, Duane (et al),
On your system, you can safely delete the contents of the C:\TEMP folder. But, you need to keep the TEMP folder itself as the "TEMP" and "TMP" environment variables point to C:\TEMP. By default, Win2K/XP point "TEMP" and "TMP" to a TEMP folder within the user profile of whoever's logged-on, but I prefer to create a "common" TEMP folder on the root to make finding and emptying the TEMP folder easier. If the TEMP folder is missing, then some apps will not work as they can't find the TEMP folder referenced by the environment variables.
So, again, it's safe to delete the contents of the folder, but not the folder itself. Also, since Windows usually has some temp files open, you may not be able to delete all the files. But, you should be able to delete a majority of them.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Re Temp Directory
Hello All,
This system is a Compaq business system, but at my request, using Windows XP
Home Edition as the OS.
The C:\ root shows a 'temp' directory created by Windows. It contains 44
sub-directories. The HD space used is about 71 billion.
Everything contained in the directory, as well as the sub-directories,
Windows put there, not I.
Is there any reason as to why I can not simply delete the entire directory?
Thank you.
