Brian,

I assume you mean iexplore.exe or IEXPLORE.EXE, not iexplorer. And that the
81 is the percent CPU utilization which shows up in the Task Manager column
headed CPU.

In the following, where I use all caps, that's how it shows up on my
particular W2K machine. It may show up in lower case on other machines, either W2K or
XP.

Cold boot the machine. After the hard drive shuts up, start Task Manager and
sort on Image Name. explorer.exe (which is Windows Explorer) should show but
not IEXPLORE.EXE (which is Internet Explorer).. If it does, something that
you don't know about must be starting it at boot. I would boot SAFE and do a
search to find what is starting it. Also, if you have the LAN activity icon
set to show in the System Tray, I would expect it to go solid on if IEXPLORE.EXE
is showing a high utilization. As something must be talking to someone.

If it doesn't show up after boot, begin starting the applications that you
normally run, one at a time. Look for IEXPLORE.EXE with a high utililization.
If you don't see it, shut that one down and try the next until you find it.
At this point, with so many variables, I'll stop.
